Here is your 2nd assignment. We've been writing simple summaries in class, so you get to write one for your classmates to read.
Write a simple summary for the last book you finished reading following these guidelines:
1. Write the title and author (if you know who it is).
2. Write a main event and an example from the beginning of the book.
3. Write a main event and an example from the middle of the book.
4. Write a main event and an example from the end of the book without giving away the ending completely.
5. Recommend this book to a 5th grader friend (it doesn't have to be someone in your class).
6. Comment on a classmate's post.
Here is an example:
The last book I read was Wonder by R. J. Palacio.
At the beginning of the book, August is trying to decide whether or not he'll attend school for the first time after being home-schooled all his life. His future classmates give him a tour of the school at the end of summer.
In the middle of the book August learns the ropes of middle school. He learns quickly how cruel some kids can be, and who his true friends are.
By the end of the book, more and more people are beginning to accept August for who he is. After a terrifying experience on a field trip, August finds the courage within him, and some surprising "friends" stand up for him.
I think Wonder should be read by every 5th grader, every parent, and every teacher. It is a wonderful, heart-warming story of courage, compassion, and self-acceptance.

Now let's see what you can do? This assignment is due by November 12.
